11월 18일 화요일에 영국 개발협력 씽크탱크인 ODI (Overseas Development Institute) 의 Mikaela Gavas 님(Programme Leader, Development Agencies and EU)과 Edward Hedger 님(Director - Finance and Economic Development), Analisa Prizzon 님(Research Fellow, Centre for Aid and Public Expenditure) 께서 본원을 방문하여, ReDI 연구원들과 변화하는 개발협력 지형과 한국 ODA의 현황에 대한 토론과 정보공유를 진행하였습니다.
ODI에서는 현재 'Future of Development Agencies'를 주제로 변화하는 개발협력 지형에 대한 연구를 진행 중인데요, 향후 한국을 포함한 다른 나라들에 대한 조사도 활발히 이루어질 계획이라고 합니다.

ODI 측 방문단은 다양한 행위자들로 이루어진 한국 ODA 체계 내에서의 의사결정 구조 및 조정 매커니즘, 한국 원조의 질적 개선과 발전의 가능성 및 도전과제 등에 대해 질문하였고 ReDI 연구원들과 ODA Watch 최승지 간사는 그간 다양한 활동과 연구, 평가, 현장사업을 시행하면서 경험한 내용들에 기반하여 의견을 피력했습니다.
금번 ODI 와 ReDI의 협력은 양 기관 간 파트너십 활동이 ODI-HPG(인도적 지원정책그룹)를 넘어 원조와 개발협력의 다양한 측면을 다루는 전문가들과 교류를 본격적으로 시작하게 했다는 의의가 있습니다.
또한 현재 국제사회에서 Beyond aid 담론과 함께 Emerging or emerged donor 로서의 한국 ODA에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있는데요, 이러한 추세에서 레디가 ODI 등 글로벌 기관들에 한국 ODA에 대한 정보와 협력을 제공할 수 있는 리딩 기관으로서 자리매김할 수 있기를 희망합니다!
